Technical guide to maintaining your saddle
The secret to maximizing the lifespan of a saddle? Consistent and effective maintenance.
To ensure that the saddle maintains its characteristics over time, proper care is essential.
In particular, during the winter season, leather is exposed to harsh weather conditions, such as humidity and temperature fluctuations, which can compromise its properties.
To guarantee longevity and preserve the integrity of the saddle, it is essential to adopt a regular and targeted maintenance routine.
On the other hand, using unsuitable or overly aggressive products could permanently damage the leather.
To meet these needs, Equitime has recently developed a complete leather care line, which includes:
EQUITIME LEATHER CLEANING AND NOURISHING SPRAY
This is the ideal product to keep your leather accessories well-maintained and in perfect condition. Thanks to its formula with avocado oil and lanolin, it cleans and conditions the leather, preventing dryness and cracks.
This practical and easy-to-apply spray restores elasticity, softness, and the natural shine of the leather without being aggressive. It is also highly effective for maintaining riding boots, ensuring they always look impeccable.
You can use it as the first step in cleaning your saddle:
1. Spray the product evenly on the surface to be treated.
2. Let it sit for about a minute.
3. Use a brush with natural bristles to reach difficult areas, such as stitching and overlapping parts.
4. Spray again and wipe with a microfiber cloth to remove any remaining dirt.
EQUITIME LEATHER OIL
This is the perfect solution for complete leather care, thanks to a combination of Hemp Oil and Shea Butter, two high-quality natural ingredients.
Enriched with Beeswax, it creates a natural shield against wear and external agents, preserving the beauty and functionality of the leather. Perfect for saddles, bridles, and tack, it provides professional care that deeply nourishes and ensures long-lasting results.
5. After using the Equitime cleaning spray, apply the oil to the saddle with a brush.
6. Wait for the oil to be fully absorbed.
EQUITIME LEATHER BALM
A complete treatment that nourishes, protects, and strengthens saddles, bridles, and tack. Thanks to its Beeswax formula, it offers effective protection against sweat, rain, and external elements, sealing the leather and ensuring long-lasting durability.
The balm penetrates the outer layers of the leather, providing softness, elasticity, and resistance, while the Beeswax creates a natural barrier that prevents dryness and cracking, keeping the leather hydrated and resistant to wear.
7. After using the Equitime cleaning spray and leather oil, use a sponge to apply the balm over the entire surface of the saddle.
EQUITIME LEATHER CLEANING AND NOURISHING WIPES
They provide a practical way to keep saddles, boots, and tack clean and well-maintained.
Ideal for daily maintenance and for preparing equipment before a competition, these wipes, enriched with Beeswax and Glycerin, help preserve the leather’s shine and softness, enhancing its natural beauty.
We recommend performing a deep cleaning of your saddle with the 3-step process—cleaning spray, oil, and balm—every two weeks. For daily care of saddles, boots, and tack, you can use the wipes.
The complete line is available in saddleries and on our website: www.equitime.it
